Different Species!

These are the different types of organisms we found as we searched these beaches.


This photo shows a brittle star and a sea star (sunflower). Brittle stars are the fastest sea stars! Interesting enough they can even stand up and flip themselves over!

 Both this and the photo below are of a small octopus.
As we were taking photos, this critter tried to blend in to its surroundings. Changing shape, form, and color to camouflage!

SEA LIONS! (and Sea Puppies) They swam all around as we scuba dove and snorkeled. Even saw some fish down below but I do not have photos.


This photo was taken at the Salt Mines, I found it very interesting how much life there was! Life ranging from dragonflies to donkeys. All organisms that depend on little water regions like shown here.

The Species at Cholla Bay James Chrislip

The Cholla bay area was cold this morning.  It was very sandy and wet.  One of the things I found was a red sponge. I have never seen a red sponge before.  Once I put my feet in the water it felt like all of my chills went to my feet from my chest area.  I also got to see an Octopus come out of it's shell.  It was very intriguing.

Today we went down to the sea shore early in the morning when the tide was low to learn about the little sea creatures that live in the tide pools, the weather was absolutely amazing! We also learned that tides are the highest/lowest when the earth, moon and the sun are in line, this is referred to as spring tides . On the flips side, when the earth, moon and sun are in the formation of a right angle it is called a neap tide  this formation produces the least tidal range.
