Another day, another marine habitat to explore!

Shrimping is one of the the larger industries in Puerto Penasco (they're not as big as that one!)

A twin-spot octopus caught by Dr. Glenn Bennett. Students are learning that an octopus is a mollusc so it is related to snails, nudibranchs, clams and chitons.  Most molluscs have a large muscular foot but not the eight-armed octopus!

Even though it doesn't seem big, the sunstar held by Alex is at the top of the food web in the intertidal here, often preying upon many of the other invertebrates we see.
